Get to Know Us: 10 Facts

Hello our lovely travelers! One focus we have this year from the blog is to show you all a little more about us, just as much as we do about our adventures. Some of our readers may know us really well while others may have never met us. So what better way to get to know us than in my favorite writing format: lists! Below are 10 facts about me and Seth, some of which you’ve hopefully never heard before!

  1. Amanda grew up as quite the tomboy. She wrestled and played baseball, both on the boy’s team. You’d never guess it now, but she also shopped for most of her clothes in the boy’s section.

  2. Seth was voted class clown in high school. You’d think that being in the military for the past 5 years would have calmed him down a bit…. but you’d be wrong.

  1. Seth was Amanda’s brother’s friend in high school. We met during the high school musical during my freshman year and his junior year and then went on to do multiple more shows and film competitions together.

  2. Seth has played soccer since he was 8 and continues to play for his base team. He usually plays midfield.

  3. We have 2 cats: Poptart and Oreo. Amanda got them when she was in high school and wasn’t particularly good at name-giving, so she went with dessert names that related to their fur colors. When she adopted them, their names were Peppermint and Patty (they’re sisters).

  4. Seth is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Amanda is a yellow belt. Seth started when he was a kid, but Amanda started in college.

  5. Amanda works in the events and production industry. She started as a stage manager for theater and other live performances, but she now prefers one-off events.

  6. Seth’s two favorite artists are David Bowie and Radiohead. He is quite the music aficionado and can talk for hours about just about any music genre (except country) and any artist. He also can spit out more pop-culture references than I care to listen to.

  7. We have been long-distance for a majority of our relationship. Out of the almost-8 years we’ve been together, we’ve been at least 3 hours apart for 5 of them, starting in Amanda’s senior year of high school.

  8. Amanda was a vegetarian for 4 years and the first meat she ate was a McDonald’s chicken nugget (which is questionable as to whether it is meat or not).

And there you have it! 10 random facts about your friendly neighborhood travel-blogging couple.
